Parenting With Transparency
Unconditional love, trust, and honesty create the foundation for successfully parenting with transparency.
Parenting with transparency means embracing unconditional love, open communication, and radical candor to create the foundation for successfully parenting children of all ages. Good parenting means being committed to openly discussing conflicts and being honest with ourselves and our children, even with difficult topics.
There is not a “mom” persona different from any other persona in your life. Parenting with transparency means being the same person with your children that you are with everyone else. You don’t have to like everything your child is doing to love them unconditionally. And in fact, being honest about that will help them understand your anger or frustration.
Encouraging and allowing children to shine their true light, no matter what that light is, is the greatest gift a parent can give.
Coping with a family member’s mental illness or addiction

Overcoming the Addiction and Mental Health Stigma
I share a story of our own experience with addiction and mental health, and how we learned first hand the strong mental health stigma that permeates our country and the world. I hope our story, and how we continue to work together as a family, will give you hope and support.
Giving Thanks for Our Family’s Pre-holiday Thanksgiving Tradition
Our family has a Thanksgiving tradition of holding our celebration the weekend before the actual holiday. This allows most of our children to travel during a time that is both easier and cheaper. And it provides us all a chance to relax, enjoy, and give blessings.
Breaking the Myth of the Evil Stepmother
This is a story of two women. Mothers and stepmothers. Navigating life and parenting together, and finding a path to friendship. Unlike fairytales that depict stepmothers as evil and wicked, this story shows how stepmothers are loving moms and supportive women.
